Westford Real Estate

Westford, just a short drive from the City of Lowell, is 23 miles northwest of Boston, and offers both proximity to other communities and the appeal of a small New England town. Westford is crossed by Routes 27, 225 and Interstate 495, making it an ideal community to raise a family within reasonable distance to Boston, Lowell and Worcester.

There are six public elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school, Westford Academy. This school emphasizes college preparation and boasts a large percentage of its graduates who go on to pursue higher education. Students can also attend Nashoba Valley Technical High School within Westford. Additionally, the active town government provides residents with a full-time police department and fire department, as well as other municipal services.

Incorporated in 1729, Westford is situated west of Lowell and north of Concord and close to the New Hampshire border. This proximity to New Hampshire gives residents a multitude of opportunity in exploring the outdoor recreation in the White Mountains and in other destinations throughout southern New Hampshire. Nearby is also the Nashoba Valley Ski Area that attracts winter visitors from all over the region.

Westford's beautiful landscape features rolling hills, lakes, and apple orchards. The importance of its local crop is celebrated each May when the town has an Apple Blossom Festival with a parade and the crowning of an apple blossom queen. A month later, in June, there is a Strawberry Festival that includes a craft fair and strawberry shortcake vendors.

Originally Westford was an agricultural and small-scale mill community of farms and wool manufacturing, but today it is mostly a bedroom community with an emphasis on high-tech with industrial activity along the Route 495 beltway. Cultural activity within Westford is most notable in its state-of-the-art library.

This quiet, attractive town offers predominantly single family colonial style homes that start in the mid $200,000 range and average in the mid-$400,000's.
