Taunton, the county seat of Bristol County in southeastern Massachusetts is a city diverse in industry and rich in municipal services for its 50,000 residents. Taunton is located in proximity to major state and interstate highways. Routes 24, 44 and 138 cross the city and Interstate 495 creates a crucial link between Taunton and other communities throughout Massachusetts. Roads, rail and access to nearby Boston and Providence, Rhode Island have aided in Taunton's growth as a business hub of the region. The Myles Standish Industrial Park in the northwest section of Taunton provides a beautiful country setting for business or industry. The park is home to over seventy companies, including General Dynamics and Bell Atlantic and provides a wide variety of employment opportunities for almost 5,000 residents Taunton and other communities in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Downtown Taunton possesses an active shopping area. Other significant commercial activity is found at the Silver City Galleria, a 160 store suburban mall in East Taunton.

Taunton is a city of rich diversity and is divided into five main neighborhoods: Weir, Whittenton, Oakland, Westville and East Taunton. These neighborhoods have their own family-run mom and pop shops, churches, neighborhood associations, parks and playgrounds. One notable feature of the city is its attractive downtown of handsome buildings and open-space. Impressive structures like the Taunton City Hall and Superior Courthouse are surrounded by well-maintained public spaces such as Taunton Green, Church Green and the Vietnam Memorial Fountain. Throughout the city, there is a thoughtful blend of the urban and pastoral. The city's wealth of architecture is seen also in its residences that offer a variety of traditional and contemporary styles-from colonials, Victorians and capes, to modern constructions and ranches.

Among Taunton's array of local services are excellent medical, educational, and safety facilities. The city's departments include full-time police, police, fire and emergency response services, water, sewer and utilities, a public school system, hospital and human service agencies. Morton Hospital is a 153 bed general acute-care community hospital serving over 120,000 residents who live throughout southeastern Massachusetts. Taunton Public Schools serve nearly 7000 students at fourteen facilities, including a modern 130 acre campus high school with excellent athletic facilities.

Additionally, Taunton residents and visitors can enjoy the numerous recreation facilities that offer outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, or hiking at one of Taunton's various recreational spots, such as Massasoit State Park, Watson State Park, Boyden Park, Sabbatia Lake or the Taunton River.

Many attractive and well-maintained condo/townhouse units exist throughout Taunton and these are found in both smaller converted buildings as well as in large scale complexes. Modest units start out for under $100,000, but rise in price to as high as $500,000. There are numerous multi-family buildings for investment opportunity also. Two unit buildings start as low as $230,000. Single-family homes in both urban and suburban neighborhoods range in price and average around $300,000.
