Randolph Real Estate

Randolph is a suburban residential community on the South Shore just 15 miles south of Boston. This location, in the midst of the Boston Metropolitan area has spurred the growth of the town as both a manufacturing center and then, more recently, as a well-established community of homes. Two major roads intersect in Randolph, Routes 128 and 24, and provide a crucial connection between the town and the larger cities of Boston and Brockton.

Randolph has seen the economic progression typical of many other towns in the region; the initial agricultural focus of early settlers gave way to manufacturing in the late 18th century. When Randolph incorporated as a town in 1793, its residents were already engaged in shoe and boot making at several manufacturing operations throughout Randolph. This industry attracted an influx of immigrants who worked the factories and made their homes in Randolph which by the mid 19th century distributed its products across America and the world. By the 20th century, as the shoe industry declined in Randolph, the economy shifted to light manufacturing and service jobs, and the community grew in residential development as a bedroom community of Boston.

Today Randolph is a thriving town of 30,000 residents living spread out across over 10 square miles of territory. The town is run by a board of selectmen and by representative town meeting. These two bodies oversee a wide array of local services to ensure Randolph's continuing high quality of life. Foremost among these services is Randolph's school district that is composed of five elementary schools, a community middle school and a high school. Additionally, there is a police department, fire department, public water and sewer department. Among the facilities maintained by the recreation department is a skating rink, the Zapustas Ice Arena.

Communities surrounding Randolph are similar towns that are either purely residential or else blend suburban life with commercial activity. These include Milton, Quincy, Braintree, Holbrook, Canton, Avon and Stoughton. Randolph homes are affordable as well. Modest single-family houses and condo units start in the high $100,000 to low $200,000 range. Median home prices for attractive traditional style colonials or mid-century ranches are around $370,000.
