Milford Real Estate

Milford, just 30 miles southwest of Boston is a thriving community located along Interstate 495 that gives the town easy access to the three major metropolitan areas of the region: Boston, Worcester and Providence.

An abundance of commercial and recreational activity within Milford makes this a convenient place to settle. Milford's revitalized downtown area features retail and other businesses. There is a Cultural Center there as well, offering passive recreation and throughout the community, various sports organizations promote athletics. Also noteworthy is a proposed parks project that will create 27 miles of trail from the Downtown Framingham Commuter Rail Station, through Sherborn, Holliston, Milford, Hopkinton and Ashland and back to Framingham. The Upper Charles Trail will primarily be an off-road path separated from traffic. It will accommodate a variety of non-motorized uses such as bicycling, walking, skating, cross-country skiing. Milford's portion of this project will comprise just over 6 miles of trail.

A major source of pride for Milford is its pink granite. Discovered in the 1870's this natural building material has been quarried for decades and graces the fronts of many buildings worldwide. Additionally, the Town of Milford, incorporated in 1780 provides an array of services for its 25,000 residents. Milford features a regional hospital serving the town and surrounding communities. Milford has a full-time police department, fire department, council on aging, tree warden and several commissions overseeing conservation, youth, disability and the restoration of Milford Pond. The Milford Arts Council is affiliated with the Massachusetts Cultural Council and disperses grant money to Milford's public library, town hall and Memorial Hall. In general, arts and entertainment are extensive in this community that promotes its local cultural with orchestra, dance, and choral groups for youth and adults.

Milford public schools include a preschool, three elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school. All these facilities are located within the town and are known for high quality education for the youth of Milford.

Homes in Milford include both single-family and condo/townhouse properties. Starting prices begin at just over $200,000 for each and average $350,000. Homes are typical of suburban communities—amble lots with trees and located on quiet streets. Milford is surrounded by the communities of Hopedale, Upton, Hopkinton, Holliston, Medway, Bellingham, and Mendon.
