Holbrook Real Estate

Holbrook is a bedroom community located on the South Shore, just 16 miles southeast of Boston. Easy access to Downtown Boston is provided by direct commuter rail line. Proximity and convenient train service make the community well-suited for those who want to work in the Boston area, but desire living in a quiet, tucked away town. The town is also well-served by roads; Routes 37 and 139 cross through town. From these roads, major highways 128 and 28 are accessible.

Originally part of Randolph and Braintree, Holbrook was formerly known as East Randolph, and incorporated as a separate town in 1872. It was renamed for Elisha N. Holbrook, a wealthy inhabitant of the town, who provided the community with the funds to build a town hall and a public library. Unfortunately, the town hall, library and meeting house were destroyed by fire several years later in 1877.

Holbrook covers approximately 7 square miles and comprises both open-space of woods and lakes and business/ industrial development. The local town government, overseen by a five-member board of selectmen provides a number of municipal services including a full-time police department and a school district. Holbrook's public school system consists of a junior-senior high school and two elementary schools. Additionally, students can elect to attend Blue Hills Vocational High School within the region. There are also two religiously affiliated private schools in the area.

Holbrook offers residential homes, new construction, condo/townhouse units, adult living communities (55+ communities), retirement homes and facilities, land, waterfront properties and multi-family investment properties. There are new housing developments in suburban subdivisions within Holbrook as well as antique, and lovingly cared-for historic homes. Single family houses start out affordably in the low $200,000 range and average in price at around $350,000. Newer homes, offering from 1500 to 3000 square feet of living space price considerably higher at above $500,000.
