Groveland Real Estate

Groveland, a town of 5200 residents is a residential community 31 miles north of Boston. This charming town whose center has the atmosphere of a village, retains its country roots in a number of working farms that welcome visitors buying produce and picking fresh fruits and vegetables.

The town spent its early history as part of neighboring Rowley and Bradford. It was only incorporated as an independent town in 1850. Nevertheless 17th century settlements evolved to create a historic downtown with many old buildings. Residents here take pride in their closely knit community and have preserved the natural beauty of the region in the parks and facilities that are maintained along the Merrimac River.

This Essex County town is near historic seaside Newburyport whose downtown offers Groveland residents access to shopping, conveniences and commuter rail service to Boston. Groveland also abuts the City of Haverhill with even more commercial and transportation facilities. Other communities bordering Groveland include Newbury, West Newbury, Georgetown and Boxford. Groveland has proximity to Interstates 95 and 495 that give the tucked away community easy access to points all over the state.

Groveland is a member of a regional public school district with West Newbury where students can attend the Pentucket Regional Middle School and High School. The district's elementary education is provided at locations in West Newbury as well as in Groveland itself.

Residents of this friendly town, comprising approximately 9 square miles typically live in traditional style colonial and cape style houses amid trees and river views. Home prices average $390,000. Homes on one acre lots, some substantial new constructions, cost considerably more. There are also condo/ townhouses that start at $190,000. Home values in this scenic, small town community continue to rise, but still remain affordable considering the natural beauty Groveland offers just a 45 minute drive from downtown Boston.
