Danvers Real Estate

Danvers, on the North Shore, is a residential community steeped in history as one of the oldest settlements in America. Land grants in the 1630's allocated by the nearby town of Salem brought the first residents. Governor John Endicott had his estate at Orchard Farms. Known early on as Salem Village, the area was witness to the witchcraft hysteria of the 1690's.

Later, Danversport developed mills powered by tidal waters and the local economy diversified beyond the farming. The community was incorporated as a township in 1757. Today many of the old colonial, cape and examples of high style federalist architecture are to be found throughout Danvers.

Located 17 miles north of Boston, Danvers has a key location for commuters. Routes 1, 62, 35, 114 and 128 cross the town and commuter rail service is available in neighboring Beverly or Salem. Danvers is largely a suburban community close to conveniences and teeming with recreation. The Liberty Tree Mall, a typical suburban galleria, offers shopping, as do numerous other shopping plazas along the main roads. There is a golf course at the Sheraton Ferncroft Hotel and Convention Center. The 165 acre Endicott Park offers educational programs in conservation, ecology, animal husbandry, architecture and archaeology, as well as the space for hiking and appreciation of the area's natural beauty. Danversport Yacht Club with its restaurant and banquet hall has docking for three hundred-fifty boats.

Danvers boasts an excellent school district with five elementary schools, one middle school and a high school, all committed to high quality learning. Additionally, prestigious St. John's Prep and several other private schools are located in Danvers.

Condominiums begin pricing in the high 100's and rise to the 400's for newer units. Single family houses start at $260,000 and go above a $1 million for large homes with wooded lots or water frontage. There is an abundance of new homes with construction styles in keeping with the architectural integrity of the area. These homes typically begin pricing at $500,000 and also climb in price based on size and features.
