Chelsea Real Estate

Chelsea is a small city just minutes north of Boston across the Tobin Memorial Bridge. The city's waterfront and hills have spectacular views of the Boston skyline. The two cities are connected by commuter rail, bus service and major highways. Chelsea is along Boston's Central Artery System and Routes 16 and 1. Route 1, with its “seven wonders” of colorful structures and large scale business signs is a road busy with commercial activity and shopping malls that link Chelsea with popular beach destinations on the North Shore. Chelsea's excellent location and transportation network have allowed this community, first settled in 1624 to thrive first as farmland, then as an industrial center. It was incorporated as town 1739 and as a city in 1857. Chelsea boasts three historic districts and a generous supply of residential tree-lined suburban streets of single and multi-family homes.

The city provides trained police and fire department protection. There is trash removal, water and sewer service, as well as health and human services for its ethnically diverse population of 28,000 residents. Chelsea also has an excellent public school system of nine elementary and middle schools, and one high school.

The community, covering approximately two square miles, features a wide variety of housing options and architectural styles side-by-side. Condominiums in large buildings or converted from formerly single and multi-family buildings are available starting in the $180,000-$200,000 range. Single family homes average in the 300's. Two or three multi-family homes in this active rental market start in the mid-300's.

Chelsea is a long standing community marked by a vibrant downtown. The city is quickly on the rise. In recent years, Chelsea has become an affordable alternative as home prices in Boston continue to climb. Just two miles north of Boston, Chelsea is also only a few minutes by car or public transportation from Boston's Logan Airport, the world's eighth largest international airport.
