Canton Real Estate

Canton, a suburban residential community, is located just 18 miles southwest of Boston. This prime location offers easy access to the state's major highways including Routes 128, I-95 and 24. Additionally, the community is served by major commuter and passenger rail lines. This convenience, together with Canton's local assets of municipal services, and natural appeal make the town a desirable community in the metropolitan Boston area.

Among Canton's many assets is its rich industrial heritage. Just after the American Revolution, Paul Revere operated copper rolling mills here. More recently, there has been rubber, chemical and woolen manufacturing. A strong commercial and industrial presence in today's Canton offers the community economic stability. The prime commercial area is strategically located to allow direct highway access without compromising small town charm. The town is committed to preserving this local character and improvements are underway to beautify public areas along Washington Street from Sherman Street to Neponset Street. These improvements include: brick sidewalks, new signage, historic traffic lights, enhanced pedestrian crossings, planting areas, recessed curbing and enhanced points of congregation including along Forge Pond.

The nearly 19,000 residents of Canton enjoy an array of high-quality municipal services such as an excellent public library offering educational and cultural activities; a school system, comprising three elementary schools, a middle school and high school; and recreation programs, often centered around Canton's many lakes, ponds and open space. There is an abundance of protected lands such as the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Reservation, an 82 acre estate of scenic open fields, woodlands and gardens in the shadow of Great Blue Hill. Pequitside Farm, a town-owned 38 acre conservation and recreation area offers hiking, picnicking and cross country skiing.

Canton, located on the South Shore of Massachusetts is bordered by Sharon and Stoughton on the south; Randolph and Milton on the east and northeast; Dedham, Westwood, and Norwood on the west; and Boston on the north. The quiet residential character of this town is affordable as well. Single-family homes average in the $400,000 range. Additionally, there are large, substantial homes set on oversized lots, as well as modest condo units available.
