Boxford is a desirable community for commuters because of its access to Interstate 95 and Route 133. Commuter rail service to Boston is available in neighboring Haverhill.

The Boxford Athletic Association manages several playing fields and a swimming pond in the summer. Boxford shares the Masconomet Regional School District with its neighbors Topsfield and Middleton. The middle school and high school are regional. However, Boxford has two public elementary schools in town as well as a kindergarten to grade eight private academy.
Boxford has an active historical/genealogical society and a public library with a large collection on Elm Street. Additionally, there are full-time police and fire departments.
