Attleboro Real Estate

Attleboro, a small manufacturing city on the Rhode Island border, provides residents with a healthy mixture of industry and suburban development. Its convenient location on Interstate 95 and within proximity to the cities of Boston and Providence makes it an ideal home-base for commuters. Boston is 32 miles north and Providence is 12 miles south. Additionally, Attleboro is at the end of the MBTA rail line with direct service to Downtown Boston. This access has spurred Attleboro's growth of suburban neighborhoods.

First incorporated as town in 1694 and as a city in 1914, Attleboro has a long history as a place of homes and businesses. Known as the birthplace of the jewelry industry in New England, the city features red brick mill buildings and a significant presence of jewelry and metal fabrication jobs that make it one of the major manufacturing employment centers in Massachusetts. Together with this economic activity is an abundance of residential subdivisions, contributing to Attleboro's identity as a suburban community.

Attleboro offers a number of attractions such as the Capron Park Zoo located in the center of the city. The facility, revitalized in 1989, features endangered species such as sloth bears and snow leopards, as well as a nocturnal exhibit and tropical rain forest. Each Christmas season, the marvelous light displays at the LaSalette Shrine draws visitors from all over the region to Attleboro. The public library provides fully accessible space for community activities, as well as additional areas for the children's and young people's collections. A fine jewelry outlet store, Industrial Museum and interactive art museum demonstrate the work of Attleboro's craftspeople and artists.

Attleboro's municipal services include a large public school district of five elementary schools, three middle schools and a high school. The parks and recreation department also oversees a variety of extracurricular youth sports activities and leagues for young people. Attleboro's 38,000 residents enjoy a successful blend of city convenience and suburban quiet. Single family homes and condos start in the mid $100,000 and four bedroom homes average $360,000. There are also multi-family properties available as well in this community that is both a well-situated city and family-oriented suburb.
